Introducing... Urban Wax Collection

History

Claybourn was established in 1910 by Manning John Claybourn in Brisbane with a simple mission to keep Aussies warm and dry.

The first wax compound was created from a blend of natural waxes and oils, such as beeswax and linseed oil, which are melted and mixed to create the proofing dressing. The dressing is then coated on cotton fabric which creates a waterproof barrier that repels water and keeps the wearer dry. Claybourn has been producing Oilskin garments for over a century, using its expertise to create high-quality jackets, hats, bags, and other accessories.

It is particularly popular with those who work outdoors and eventually, it also became a popular fashion item for city folks. A picture of King Charles III wearing a Claybourn coat was taken during his study at Geelong Grammar in Australia in 1966 because of the style, quality, and comfort it gives.

Reintroduction

Today, we are reintroducing oilskin outfits with a major update in the new age of fashion. The Urban Wax collection, the successor of our Heritage Range uses a better-waxed cotton fabric and modernized pattern for a further improved comfort and sleek fit.

Design

Urban Wax collection is designed with an urban setting in mind. The collection has successfully redesigned waxed cotton outfits for city dwellers with a sleek and sturdier build while being a protective outfit just like its predecessor.

The new Waxed cotton jackets have a vintage look and feel, but the addition of modern features such as multiple pockets and adjustable waistbands makes them practical for everyday wear in the city.

Claybourn's locally-made collection is proudly accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia, which ensures that the clothing is made ethically and that workers are treated fairly and paid properly. The collection includes a range of products, including:
